Shovels & Rope are signed to Dine Alone Records here in Canada, but they're also going to be releasing music through Jack White's Third Man Records in the form of a new 7-inch. This single will be part of the label's Blue Series and will arrive on April 2.
These two tracks are both covers, as the twosome have taken on Bruce Springsteen's "Johnny 99" and Tom Waits' "Bad as Me." According to an announcement from Third Man, the former is "piano-heavy" while the latter is a "slinky, hip-shaking version." The label further notes, "This is the perfect soundtrack for two doomed souls dancing in the glow of a jukebox in a greasy spoon diner... We reckon Messrs Springsteen and Waits should be mighty proud."
