With a Netflix documentary and all, the story of Shania Twain's rise to country-pop iconography is fairly well a tale as old as time at this point. So perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise that the national treasure has joined the cast of ABC's Beauty and the Beast 30th anniversary special as head housekeeper Mrs. Potts.

Presented by the Wonderful World of Disney anthology series, the two-hour hybrid animated/live-action special reimagining of the classic is to be taped in front of a live studio audience. It is slated to air on ABC on December 15 at 8 p.m. ET, with next-day streaming to follow on Disney+.

Twain will appear alongside H.E.R.'s Belle, Josh Groban's Beast and Joshua Henry's Gaston, as well as supporting cast Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building), Rizwan Manji (Schitt's Creek), David Alan Grier, Jon Jon Briones, Leo Abelo Perry and Rita Moreno.

The singer-songwriter shared the news on Instagram today, writing:

I am unbelievably honoured... and excited... and all of the emotions(!!) to announce that I will be joining the cast of #BeautyAndTheBeast30th to play the part of my favourite character - Mrs. Potts 🫖 And of course, I would be remiss if I didn't pay tribute to the iconic Angela Lansbury, I mean she IS Mrs. Potts and the reason why this character is so beloved. To follow in the foot steps of such an icon is a huge honour and I hope to do the part justice ❤️ Airing December 15 on @abcnetwork.

If the aesthetic behind her new single "Waking Up Dreaming" is any indication, her Mrs. Potts could very well have boots on her handle and a cowboy hat on her spout — or the other way around?
