Ishmael Butler has detailed a new album as Shabazz Palaces. The vocalist and producer will share Robed in Rareness on October 27 via Sub Pop.

Following 2020's The Don of Diamond Dreams, the seven-song Robed in Rareness is revealed by Butler in a release as the "first in a series," said to sonically "[harken] back to the spare, icy menace of those first Shabazz EPs back in 2009."

All but one of the effort's tracks sports a featured artist. Those Robed in Rareness alongside Butler include his son Lil Tracy, Camp Lo's Geechi Suede, Lavarr the Starr, Porter Ray, O Finess and Royce the Choice.

Opener "Binoculars" arrives today alongside visuals from Jacob Kasar, with Butler's scope fixed on the future: "All I wanna do is see the girls get a chance / All I wanna do is see the bros getting bands."

Shabazz Palaces have also lined up North American tour dates for the fall. In September, Butler will first perform with Digable Planets in Toronto ahead of bringing Shabazz Palaces to the Great Hall on September 28, followed by shows at POP Montreal 2023.
