Sasquatch! Music Festival Cancels July Weekend

BY Josiah HughesPublished Mar 23, 2014

The annual Sasquatch! Music Festival will, as always, invade the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA, this May. For the first time in the festival's history, a second weekend in July had also been booked. Due to a lack of interest, however, the second Sasquatch! weekend has been cancelled.

Jeff Trisler of Live Nation Seattle explained that the second Sasquatch!, which was set to run from July 4 to 6, will not take place. From now on, Sasquatch will remain a once-a-year festival, taking place in 2014 only from May 23 to 25.

Trisler shared the following statement:

The Sasquatch! community has spoken. They continue to support the traditional Memorial Day Weekend event with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, the second weekend was not embraced. We felt it was better to cancel the new event now and give everyone time to make alternative plans for the Fourth of July weekend. Going forward, Sasquatch! Music Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheatre on the weekend the fans want: Memorial Day Weekend only.

The July edition of Sasquatch was set to include appearances from Neutral Milk Hotel, Frank Ocean, Kraftwerk, Soundgarden, Spoon, New Order, Röyksopp & Robyn, Kurt Vile & the Violators, Broken Bells, Rhye, Action Bronson, Local Natives, Cloud Nothings, Sharon Van Etten, Mac DeMarco, Jon Hopkins, Foxygen, Oneohtrix Point Never, Mikal Cronin, Tegan and Sara, Cass McCombs, Junip, Courtney Barnett, Metz, the Notwist, Gold Panda, Audion, Deltron 3030, Of Montreal, Death, La Roux, the Horrors, Chad VanGaalen, Thao & the Get Down Stay Down, the Black Angels, Lee Fields & the Expressions, Chastity Belt, Latyrx, Black Milk, Reigning Sound, Atmosphere, and Palma Violets, among others.
