In tribute to another talented jazz player, Robert Glasper is gearing up to release Everything Is Beautiful next month, on which he will offer new takes on classic Miles Davis recordings. The accomplished player has given us the first taste of the tribute record with "Violets."
Inspired by Davis' Kind of Blue cut "Blue in Green," Glasper's rework also features production assistance from 9th Wonder and bars from North Carolina rapper Phonte, who serves up some introspective bars over the gentle jazz piano chops.
