Record Store Day Announces 2017 Date for 10th Anniversary Event

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Jan 5, 2017

Believe it or not, Record Store Day — the annual celebration of independent record stores and spinning musical discs — will turn 10 this year. As such, organizers are gearing up to give an even bigger push behind the event, and they're getting things going by announcing the date for the 2017 edition: April 22.

As always, RSD will take place in April and on a Saturday. It also promises to unloaded a whole lot of vinyl exclusives upon the record-buying masses, whether they like it or not.

We can also expect that list of exclusives to leak online early (much to the anger of organizers) and for the releases to then get flipped for some seriously stupid money — not to mention have a whole lot of smaller bands and labels get screwed over by pressing plant backups and have some bigwig artist named "Record Store Day Ambassador."

So far, though, there are no further details about the 2017 event to report beyond that date, so feel free to take a big breath and enjoy the calm before the inevitable shitstorm.
