The Red Bull Music Academy is rolling out its documentary about Japanese videogame music in instalments, and part two of Diggin' in the Carts has now arrived.
This chapter is called "The Outer Reaches of 8-Bit," and it traces the rise of 8-bit gaming. Once again, there are interviews with experts, composers, and contemporary artists; these include Flying Lotus, Fatima Al Qadiri, Anamanaguchi and others. They discuss games like Castlevania, Gimmick!, Contra and many more.
