As we've reported a few times now, post-punk trailblazers Magazine recently reunited for a series of live shows in their UK homeland. Little did we know, however, that Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood was reportedly ask to fill in for Magazine guitarist John McGeoch, who passed away in 2004.
Unfortunately, though, Greenwood declined the offer, At Ease reports [via TwentyFourBit]. According to Adam Buxton, a BBC 6 DJ who collaborated on Radiohead's Scotch Mist film, Greenwood was apparently a little too shy to join Magazine onstage.
"Thom Yorke was saying they'd asked Jonny Greenwood if he would be up for playing," Buxton told At Ease. "But I think Jonny was just overwhelmed, cause he's the biggest Magazine fan in the world. He was just too shy, I think. I'm sure he's got all those licks in his locker."
Funny how that how after years of playing live to thousands, Greenwood still has the ability to feel shy and get a little starstruck. On the other hand, good to see he hasn't become some egomaniacal douche.
