Radiohead Return to the Internet with Teaser Videos and "Burn the Witch"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished May 3, 2016

After totally wiping their online presence and sending out mysterious leaflets over the weekend, Radiohead have returned to the Internet and are hinting at some imminent new material.

The band have shared two teaser videos via Instagram this morning (May 3). The first depicts a claymation bird perched on a tree branch, chirping. As previously reported, Radiohead recently launched companies under the names Dawn Chorus LLP and Dawnchoruss LTD. In confusing but perhaps related news, May 1 marked the annual instalment of birding event International Dawn Chorus Day.

The first clip was followed by a second one that features what could be new music from the band. The video itself finds similarly animated footage depicting a woman tied to a tree, while cloaked men with swords circle about ominously — mimicking the "Burn the Witch" message that appeared on the mailed out messages. The night of April 30, moving into the early hours of May 1 marked the German folk tradition "Witches' Night."

Radiohead have been hinting at a new album for a while now, with the group's manager suggesting it will arrive in June. The band's back catalogue was recently repositioned under the umbrella of XL Recordings on online streaming services, and they are expected to perform the latest material at upcoming festival slots.

Check out the latest teasers from the band below, and be sure to stay tuned for details as they become available.

UPDATE (5/3, 11 a.m.): The band have officially revealed a new video for the song "Burn the Witch," which will arrive as a digital single on May 4. Watch the clip below.
