The long list of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2018 has just been revealed.

19 artists are eligible to be inducted into the Cleveland institution next year, and they are as follows: Bon Jovi, Kate Bush, the Cars, Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, J. Geils Band, Judas Priest, LL Cool J, MC5, the Meters, Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Link Wray and the Zombies.

Bush, Dire Straits, the Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Simone and Tharpe are all first-time nominees — not that Radiohead think it's a particularly big deal.

To qualify for a nomination, an artist must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to induction — meaning the coming year's crop must have released music in or before 1992.

The successful inductees will be chosen by a voting body comprised of 900 artists, historians and music industry folks. Fans will also be able to contribute, by casting votes to compile a fan ballot of five artists that will be tallied along with the other official votes. Fan voting opens later today (October 5) and runs through December 5.

The list of 2018 inductees will be revealed later in December, with an induction ceremony to take place on April 14.

Last year's inductees were Pearl Jam, Journey, Tupac Shakur, Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra and Yes.
