R. Kelly pleaded not guilty to federal charges he sexually abused women and girls in a Brooklyn courtroom today.
The Associated Press reports that Kelly was also denied bail, and was deemed a flight risk and danger to public safety by prosecutors.
Kelly was arrested in Chicago last month (July 11) on charges that included child porn, enticement of a minor and obstruction of justice. He was then extradited to New York to face charges including racketeering, kidnapping, forced labour and the sexual exploitation of a child.
In February, Kelly was arrested on 10 counts of sex abuse in Cook County, Illinois. Those charges involved four women, three of whom were underage at the time of the alleged abuse. Kelly pleaded not guilty and was released on bail.
In May, Kelly was hit with 11 more sex-related charges. He pleaded not guilty to those as well.
