Andy Anderson — a former drummer in the Cure — has died. He was 68.
Last week, it was revealed by Anderson — who also worked with artists like Iggy Pop, the Glove, Edwyn Collins, Peter Gabriel, Midge Ure and Mike Oldfield — that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. In a tweet Tuesday (February 26), Cure co-founder Lol Tulhurst confirmed the drummer's passing.

Anderson joined the Cure in 1983 and recorded with the band on such albums as Japanese Whispers, The Top and Concert, as well as on singles "Love Cats" and "The Caterpillar."
The Cure are slated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year.

Last week, Anderson explained of his diagnosis that there "is no way of returning from that, it's totally covering the inside of my body." He added, "No boo-hooing here, just be positive… be cool."It's with a heavy heart, I have to report the passing of a Cure brother.

Andy Anderson was A true gentleman and a great musician with a wicked sense of humor which he kept until the end, a testament to his beautiful spirit on the last journey. We are blessed to have known him.
