Purpleoid

Euphoraphonic

BY Roman SokalPublished Jun 1, 2002

Purpleoid are an enigma. On the surface, they show a thin veil of country and progressive pop rock, but underneath they show their true influences, classic psychedelic rock, but executed through the partial use of electronics. It is also obvious that their intent is to reach the major label masses, but unfortunately this self-titled debut is a but too amateur and of demo quality, despite the production by Dave Schiffmann, who has worked with artists like Rage Against The Machine and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Euphoraphonic is marred by weak anthems galore and not enough solid ground.
