Maya Postepski might be known to some as a member of Austra and Trust, but the Toronto-based musician has adopted the name Princess Century for her latest project, and Exclaim! is giving you an exclusive early listen to her debut EP Lossy.
Also known for her remix and DJ work, Postepski has never shied away from experimenting with electronic sounds, though that adventurous spirit has never been so prevalent as it is on Lossy. The three-track collection hears her guiding listeners through what a press release calls a blend of "minimalist cosmic disco psychedelia" and "glacial poly-rhythmic territories soaked in dark dripping goo."
Bringing other-worldly sounds down to earth and bathing them in synthetic noise that ranges from frantic and mechanical to shimmery and soothing, the new tracks hint at a creative energy from Princess Century that won't be slowing down any time soon.
Lossy is available digitally today (July 24) and on vinyl as of August 14, with a full-length album expected to follow sometime soon. While we await further details, get acquainted with Princess Century by streaming the new EP in the player below.
