Pretty Matty Swears "I'm Fine" in New Single

Toronto pastel punk Pretty Matty — the recording project of Matty Morand — is set to drop his self-titled debut album on September 6 through Get Better Records, and now he's given us another taste of the new LP with "I'm Fine."

"I'm Fine" is "the closest I had ever come to writing a straight-up love song," says Morand. "It's about feeling a strong connection with another person but being unsure if that feeling goes both ways. Being in your head analyzing all of your interactions trying to figure out what exactly is going on."

The song packs distorted guitars, urgent vocals and a ripping guitar solo in less than two minutes, harkening back to the thrifty style of the Breeders and Guided by Voices.

Pretty Matty is heading out on a U.S. tour in support of the new release, culminating in a hometown album release show on September 21 that also serves as Morand's birthday party.

Pretty Matty is available for pre-order on pink cassette here. The upcoming tour dates are below, followed by the stream of the new single.
