Ponteix

"Chasing the Sun" (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 29, 2015

French-Canadian Saskatoon-based psych-rock unit Ponteix are currently wrapping up the recording of their debut EP, but before it's ready for release, Exclaim! is giving you the first look at the band's new video for "Chasing the Sun."

The clip was directed by Montreal's Nicholas Marakas and takes inspiration from Kanye West's short film "Runaway." Clocking in at 12 minutes, the artistically minded clip was shot over a two-month period. It showcases a handful of main characters struggling with individual trials as they discover "what it means to strive for more."

The footage was shot mostly in Montreal, though some performance tape of the band in scenic rural Saskatchewan also made the final cut. In addition to the lengthy narrative tale, the clip also serves as an introduction to the band's debut single "Chasing the Sun."

Bubbly, bright and infectious, the ambitious accompanying visuals can be seen below, where you'll also find just the audio in the SoundCloud player at the bottom of the page. Ponteix's debut EP is due out in spring 2016.
