Polaris Music Prize Reveals 2016 Short List

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 14, 2016

The annual Polaris Music Prize will be handed out once again later this year, but before the ultimate champion is decided, the pool is getting narrowed down to 10 finalists. The recently revealed 40-album long list has just been trimmed down, and the final countdown is now on to see who will take home $50,000 and bragging rights for 2016.

Like in years past, the prize honours the best Canadian album "without regard to musical genre or commercial popularity," as selected by a panel of music critics. The eligibility period includes albums released between June 2015 and May 2016.

The grand prize will be awarded at a gala in Toronto on September 19.

For now, check out the list of 10 albums that are still in the running to take home this year's title.
