Petitioners Call for AC/DC to Stop Touring Entirely

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Mar 18, 2016

Last week, AC/DC cancelled a run of tour dates after vocalist Brian Johnson was advised by a doctor to "stop touring immediately" or risk total hearing loss, leading some to believe that the rest of the band had plans to replace the frontman. Now, fans of the iconic Australian rock outfit are calling on guitarist Angus Young to stop touring entirely as to not tarnish the band's legacy.

A Change.org petition asks AC/DC "to NOT continue on without Brian Johnson," feeling that the band would become "a tribute act" if Young were to be the band's only original member on tour. Former members Malcolm Young and Phil Rudd have left the band within the last two years, due to dementia and a wealth of trouble with the law, respectively.

"AC/DC has since made a statement that they will continue the remaining tour dates with a guest vocalist," the petition reads. "Most fans do not agree with this decision and feel they should retire with dignity and respect to their lineup. Angus Young is their only original member left at this point and they are becoming more of a tribute act. Please sign and help convince the band to call it a day and not tarnish the AC/DC legacy."

One commenter proclaimed that "At this point it is the Angus Young project not AC/DC!," while another said "it is time to hang up the guitars and call it a day with their heads held high." At the time of publication, the petition has 46 supporters.
