Pennywise

Live@The Key Club

BY Shawn MerrillPublished Dec 1, 2000

Naturally, it was only a matter of time before Pennywise, Hermosa Beach's purveyors of melodic punk, released a live greatest hits package. Live @ the Key Club was recorded in front of 600 fans in Los Angeles as the final show ending up their yearlong tour for Straight Ahead. However, instead of playing selections directly from Straight Ahead, their set-list was composed of requests that were emailed by their fans. With that in mind, it's no wonder why such a broad spectrum of Pennywise classics appear on this release, such as "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "Living For Today," "No Reason Why" and "Bro-hymn." The 17 tracks on Live @ the Key Club are distorted, aggravated, and catchy in their essence, and are an accurate depiction of Pennywise live.
