Peace Be Still

'Dumb Dads' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 1, 2016

Toronto-based emo punks Peace Be Still are set to unleash their latest record Dumb Dads, and Exclaim! is giving you the exclusive first listen.

Having slogged it out on tour for the last couple years, the band have channelled their learning experiences on the road into the new material. The 10 new songs capture the band's chemistry and unstoppable work ethic, all wrapped up into a set that showcases tightly written hooks and melodies tinged with a punk edge.

From the crunchy guitar of opening cut "Rachel" through the jerky, start-stop rhythms of "Secret Lille," melodic alt-rock vibes of "Brat" and "Book Club," and onto the chugging, fuzzed-out sound of closer "Bozo," the band pack plenty of punch into the record. Dumb Dads was produced by Hamilton's Dan Hosh (Arkells, Dallas Green) and mastered by Brad Boatright.
