Pavement Reunion Rumours Overtake the Internet - Again

It seems like every few months we hear rumours of a massive Pavement reunion, and it's getting to the point where they're hard to take seriously. On the Exclaim! site alone, the hints of a reunion have popped up time and time and time again.

Now, Brooklyn Vegan has chimed in with its reunion rumors, claiming a "reliable source" has told the site that the band will reunite for a string of shows, and possibly a full tour, in 2010.

Here's exactly what they said:

According to reliable sources, it's finally happening in 2010! There will be multiple, possibly four, nights of shows at NYC's Central Park Summerstage in September of that year. That could be part of a tour. That could be the end of a tour, the middle of a tour, or even the beginning of a tour, but it seems reasonable to speculate that they might make their official comeback at Coachella in April.

On top of this, Pitchfork is backing the story, writing the source "is real and official and not a figment of our imagination." And while that may be true, they don't say whether or not what this source is saying is actually true.

Now, we're not denying it's not a promising prospect. It's just that until Malkmus himself calls the reunion, we're not holding our breath - and getting poised to write a retraction.
