The Replacements had been on the reunion circuit for the past couple of years, but frontman Paul Westerberg appeared to grow tired of the band, and he announced that this past June's Primavera Sound set would be their final show together. With the reunion seemingly over, Westerberg has now moved on and started a new band with songwriter Juliana Hatfield.
The duo call themselves the I Don't Cares. Their debut album is dubbed Wild Stab, and although it doesn't have a release date just yet, it will be out sometime soon on Dry Wood Music.
For now, the debut single "1/2 2 P" can be streamed in the Spotify player below. It's a scuzzy punk rock scorcher.
Hatfield is a longtime fan of Westerberg and the Replacements. She wrote about him extensively in her 2008 book When I Grow Up: A Memoir, and she has frequently discussed his influence on her.
