Patrick Watson Unveils "Melody Noir" Video

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 10, 2018

Patrick Watson returned with "Broken" last year, and now the Montreal songsmith and his band have unveiled another new track. "Melody Noir" arrives today, complete with an accompanying music video.

"This song was inspired by an incredible singer from Venezuela, Simon Diaz," Watson said in a statement. "I was so inspired by his music I had to write a tune. It's a love song dedicated to the hole inside of you."

As for the video, Watson and co-director Brigitte Poupart drew inspiration from a film called I Am Cuba, and shot the clip last year in Montreal.

"I wanted to make a sensual but surreal dance video, where the main character slowly gets eaten by a void, embodied by the other dancers," Watson explained. "The dancers are a wonderful Colombian dance troupe who bring a mix of classical and modern elements to the piece."
