None More Black

File Under Black

BY Shawn MerrillPublished Aug 1, 2003

Even with the decomposition of hardcore upstarts Kid Dynamite, it couldn’t keep a good punk down. Ex-Kid Dynamite front-man Jason Shevchuk has been resurrected, returning to produce some of his strongest material yet. Foregoing any sibling rivalry, Jason is accompanied by his brother and two other blokes on this hardcore mission. Not extremely common these days, File Under Black is a poignant and notable full-length debut, filled with youthful energy and spirit. With that in mind, it’s highly doubtful that this disc will ever make it to the bottom of anyone’s CD pile. Moreover, at 30 minutes in duration, it’s short enough to pay close attention to every chord change and spit of aggression and long enough to savour but not get bored.
