Nirvana

"Scentless Apprentice" (from 'Live and Loud' special)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 18, 2013

Next Tuesday (September 24) sees the release of a 20th anniversary edition of Nirvana's final LP, In Utero, and one of the many extras in the package is a DVD of the band's 1993 Live and Loud concert for MTV. Ahead of its release, you can preview a vicious run through of the band's "Scentless Apprentice."

Flanked by angelic anatomy dummies, we see Dave Grohl hammer into the song's familiar intro, while Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Pat Grohl chunk out that Cro-Magnon punk riff at the front of the stage. Points go to Novoselic for his kick-ass, old-school SSD shirt, but Cobain seems to miss a few syllables while wheezing out the chorus. Honestly, though, that's a minor quibble.

You can see Nirvana rip into the classic cut down below.
