Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter and his sister Angel have filed a restraining order against their brother Aaron Carter, after the latter allegedly threatened to kill Nick, his pregnant wife and their unborn child.

In a statement on Twitter, Nick wrote:

In light of Aaron's increasingly alarming behavior and confession that he harbors thoughts and intentions of killing my pregnant wife and unborn child, we were left with no choice but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family.

Speaking on behalf of himself and Aaron's twin Angel, Nick concluded, "We love our brother and truly hope he gets the proper treatment he needs before any harm comes to himself or anyone else."

Aaron recently revealed on an episode of The Doctors that he has been diagnosed with personality disorder, schizophrenia, manic depression and acute anxiety.

Following the television appearance, police showed up at Aaron's house with the intention of putting him on a 5150 hold — an involuntary hold at a psychiatric hospital for 72 hours if the person is deemed dangerous to themselves or others. He was able to convince them, however, that he did not pose any serious risks.

Aaron is reportedly in possession of more than 500 firearms, five of which he has purchased in his own name since getting a firearms licence a few weeks ago. He also inherited approximately 500 guns from his late father, as well.

When TMZ asked if Aaron had disclosed his mental illnesses on his license application, he argued that the segment on The Doctors had been edited.

Aaron has since responded to Nick and Angel's restraining orders, asking his family to leave him alone. He has also taken to retweeting and sharing rape accusations against his brother Nick and allegations that he has been abusive to other women in the past.

Nick was not prosecuted on the rape allegations for an incident that occurred in 2013 because the statute of limitations had expired.
