Neil Young has been teasing a new album with his collaborators Crazy Horse, and now he has confirmed that the record is called Colorado. It will be released in October. The first single, "Rainbow of Colors," will be out this month.

In a new post on his website, the songwriter revealed that Colorado will be made of up "10 new songs ranging from around 3 minutes to over 13 minutes." It's being released on double vinyl, with the songs spread across three sides plus a 7-inch of bonus tracks.

The lineup features Young alongside classic-era members Billy Talbot (bass), Ralph Molina (drums) and Nils Lofgren (guitar).

The making of Colorado has been documented with a film called Mountaintop Sessions. Young wrote, "I don't think a film about this subject with the openness and intensity we have captured has ever been seen." (We're guessing he's never watched Some Kind of Monster.) It was shot by cinematographer C.K. Vollick and will be released through Young's own Shakey Pictures. It will be screened it over 100 theatres worldwide the same week Colorado arrives.

Previously, Young suggested that the new Crazy Horse album would be called Pink Moon. Perhaps he decided that title was a little too evocative of Nick Drake.
