In 2008, Mount Eerie's Phil Elverum teamed with Julie Doiron and Fred Squire for an album called Lost Wisdom. Now, Elverum and Doiron have returned with a sequel of sorts.
Lost Wisdom pt. 2 features eight new compositions from Elverum, who recorded the tracks with the help of Doiron.
In an extremely poetic press release, Elverum suggested that the album touches on themes that include the death of his wife Geneviève Castrée and his recent marriage to and separation from Michelle Williams. Still, he is intentionally not as direct as he was on the albums A Crow Looked at Me and Now Only.
"I tried to make songs that did not rely at all on who I am or who I am singing about," he explained. "Knowing that anyone with internet access might have questions about my specifics, I don't want to say anything personal that isn't already in the songs. My fingers are crossed that when I push them out to sea they will be met with calm humane understanding. That's what they're about after all."
Lost Wisdom pt. 2 will arrive on November 8 via P.W. Elverum & Sun. Until then, you can stream the album's "Love Without Possession" below.
Further, Phil and Julie will complete a series of tour dates surrounding the album that will "likely be the only performance of this album's material for the foreseeable future."
Find those dates, which include Canadian stops in Vancouver and Toronto, below.
