Missy Elliott to Release New 'ICONOLOGY' Project Tonight

BY Matt BobkinPublished Aug 22, 2019

Over 14 years after releasing sixth album The Cookbook, Missy Elliott is finally set to release the follow-up. ICONOLOGY — a "collection of new songs" — is set to drop tonight at midnight.

The singer wrote in a tweet earlier today, "At midnight tonight I'm dropping a collection of new songs! Let's #ThrowItBack to a time when music just felt good and made us want to dance! Sincerely, Dr. Melissa "Missy" Elliott #ICONOLOGY"

Though she hasn't released a proper album in 14 years, Missy has kept busy — she's appeared on tracks with Lizzo, Ciara, Busta Rhymes and Kelly Rowland, Mary J. Blige, Quavo and DJ Khaled, Fall Out Boy and A$AP Ferg in recent years, along with dropping singles of her own like "I'm Better," "Pep Rally" and "WTF (Where They From)."

Next Monday (August 26), Missy will be honoured with MTV's Michael Jackson Vanguard Award at its Video Music Awards.
