Following a nearly 12-year gap, iconic spook-punks the Misfits have just announced their first album of new material in over a decade. Titled Devil's Rain, the disc primes the band's classic blend of horror movie homage and punky pop hooks.
The album follows 2003's Project 1950 but acts as their first full batch of originals since 1999's Famous Monsters. It will be released on October 4 on the band's own Misfits Records.
While a tracklisting has yet to be revealed, the album apparently "embodies the ferocity and melody that have made the Misfits omnipresent and immortal."
The artwork, which you can see above, is a rebranding of the troupe's "Fiend" mascot, as interpreted by celebrated comic book artist Arthur Suydam (Marvel Zombies).
While many, quite reasonably, still pine for the band's Glenn Danzig-fronted days, the current lineup of original member Jerry Only, Black Flag alum Dez Cadena and drummer Eric Arce will be hitting North American clubs with songs new and old this fall. Following a couple European dates, the band travel our continent from September straight through to November. Along the way, they will play one Canadian date at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre.
Misfits will be joined by JuiceheaD on most dates. Check the details below before you grease up your devilock and shine your skull-shaped belt buckle.
