"Sleep with Me" (video)

Michael Rault has been relatively silent since delivering his Living Daylight LP in 2015, but the songwriter has returned today with a new song titled "Sleep with Me," which comes accompanied by a video.

The Laura-Lynn Petrick-directed clip finds Rault fully embracing some R&R on grainy Super 8 film to some sweet string arrangements and vocal harmonies. You can watch the clip in the player below.

"I wrote this song about dreams and sleeping, and escaping the realities of day-to-day life," Rault said in a statement. "It also has slick guitarmonies! I was digging Wings & ELO and the grandiose pop arrangements of the '70s, and decided to try my hand at something kind of over the top like that."

Rault recorded the song at Daptone's House of Soul studio in Brooklyn with Wayne Gordon (King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars) engineering and co-producing, Rault on guitar and piano, Mikey Post (Naomi Shelton, Reigning Sound) on the drums, Benny Trokan (Charles Bradley, Lee Fields) on bass, and Gabe Roth (Sharon Jones, Amy Winehouse) on mixing and string arrangements.

Rault will deliver a follow-up to Living Daylight through his new label home Wick Records, the rock imprint of the esteemed Daptone Records.

11/15 Los Angeles, CA - The Moroccan Lounge
