M.I.A. Announces Retirement At Bonnaroo

Turns out it wasn’t just the copious amounts of weed freaking out the hippies at this year’s Bonnaroo Festival. During her Friday the 13th performance at the Manchester, Tennessee festival, British rapper M.I.A. announced that it was her last show ever, the New York Times reports. "This is my last show ever,” she said, "and I’m glad I’m spending it with all my hippies.”

While it’s too early to speculate about the validity of these statements, this news comes within a week of her canceling a month-long European tour. She told NY Mag: "I'm canceling because I feel like physically I just have to stop for a second. It's too insane…now and again you finally just want to be gardening and get your nails done or something like that."

June has seen M.I.A. grab the headlines four times now, after announcing her engagement to Benjamin Brewer, son of uber-wealthy Warner Music Group exec Edgar Bronfman Jr, and proposing to build schools in Liberia with the $100,000 she made from an MTV Movie Awards after-party.
