In addition to unleashing that four-part, early days documentary series, today (August 18) has found Metallica focusing on their future. Namely, they've just announced the info behind their new album, Hardwired...To Self-Destruct. The Bay Area metal force's 11h studio LP is now officially due November 18 via the band's own Blackened Recordings.
The group announced the details on the collection on their website, explaining that Hardwired...To Self-Destruct is a 12-song double album that "represents the next phase of our journey as Metallica." As previously reported, this latest full-length was recorded with Greg Fidelman, who shares a producer credit with Hetfield and Ulrich.
In addition to the standard release, Hardwired...To Self-Destruct will also arrive as a three-disc deluxe edition that adds the previously released "Lords of Summer" and several tracks worth of "riff origins." The album is available on vinyl, CD and digitally, and pre-orders can be found over here.
The foursome have also unleashed a music video for double-time thrash track and de facto title cut "Hardwired." The audio had been premiered through Minneapolis, MN radio station 93X. As you'll hear down below, the track may well cause 'Tallica fans some whiplash, being full of Hetfield-style, down-picked guitar rhythms and a speedy one-two from Lars Ulrich.
Metallica also confirmed that they'll be supporting the collection with a concert tour, though details on the dates have yet to be revealed. For the time being, you can check out the new, raging tune and the tracklisting info down below. That'd be its face-mashing, tongue-wagging cover art up above.
