Metallica are evidently pretty excited about their new song "Lords of Summer." Already this year, the divisive metal legends have performed the song live and shared a "garage demo," and now they've released a so-called "first pass" studio version.
Clocking in at almost eight and a half minutes, it's a heavy epic filled with headbanging riffs, grizzly growls and full-throttle thrash energy. Since this is labeled as a "first pass," we might see a cleaned-up version on Metallica's next album. That being said, this is an officially approved version, since it's available on iTunes.
