Athens, GA psych/dance/post-rock band Maserati have unleashed a rarities CD of out-of-print vinyl tracks to coincide with an upcoming North American fall tour. Along with several U.S. dates, the tour will include Canadian stops in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto with Japanese post-rockers Mono lending support.
Maserati, known for their captivating live performances and their inventive sound, have been described as the middle-ground between U2, Daft Punk and Pink Floyd, with an underground edge, of course. And we'll just try to ignore the fact that they describe themselves as "crunk" on their MySpace page.
The rarities CD, entitled Passages, features the material from a split LP with Zombi, a remix LP featuring !!!'s Justin Van Der Volgen and others, and two previously unreleased tracks. All of the old material on the collection, released by Temporary Residence, is re-mastered from the original recordings.
Also, Passages is one of those enhanced CDs, with videos for the tracks "Inventions (live)" and "This Is a Sight We Had One Day on the High Mountain" included on the disc. To get a little sneak peak, you can grab the track "Monoliths" over here.
Passages:
1. "Join Us, Mystic Sister"
2. "No More Sages"
3. "Monoliths"
4. "Thieves"
5. "The World Outside (Thee Loving Hand Remix)"
6. "Inventions (Justin Van Der Volgen Remix)"
7. "Monoliths (Steve Moore Remix)"
