Mama Said Knock You Out

VIDEO GAME

Talk about a beat-down. Def Jam: Fight For New York, a beefed-up version of last year’s Def Jam Vendetta, takes your favourite rappers out of the wrestling ring and onto the mean streets of New York City for some bare-knuckle brawling. Oh, and maybe a little lead-pipe head smashing, too. The multi-platform game is equally open-minded with its characters, pilfering plenty from Russell Simmons’ stable but including 40 MCs of various labels and schools — from Slick Rick, Ice T and Flava Flav to Ghostface, Ludacris, and Lil’ Kim. Now you can exact revenge on Method & Red for their insulting sitcom to the beats of Ultramagnetic MCs. So follow the storyline, fight up to four friends in battle mode or deck your character out in Phat Farm, tats and Jacob the Jeweller-supplied bling. Just watch out for Big Bad Snoop — dude may be back on the chronic, but he can still break your nizzle.
