Major Lazer Announce Guest-Heavy 'Free the Universe' LP

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 1, 2012

The first details about Major Lazer's sophomore album have finally been revealed. Following up 2009's Guns Don't Kill People… Lazers Do, a new record titled Free the Universe will be arriving on November 6 via Mad Decent/Downtown.

UPDATE: The record release has now been pushed back until February 19.

With Diplo now reigning as the sole permanent member of the dancehall-inspired electro project, he will receive all the executive producing credits on the forthcoming release, which has quite the impressive roster of guests. As hinted at way back when, Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig appears on the album, as do Tyga, Flux Pavilion, Bruno Mars, Wyclef Jean, Shaggy, Winter Gordon and Dev.

Previously released banger "Get Free" featuring Dirty Projectors' Amber Coffman is also slated to appear on the album, which you can listen to at the bottom of the page. So, there you have it: thanks to Major Lazer, Exclaim! cover stars Dirty Projectors and Shaggy now share credits on the same album.

Major Lazer will be heading out on a brief U.S. tour in the fall, though no Canadian dates are scheduled so far. Check out the string of dates below.
