Los Lobos will pay tribute to the sounds and songwriting of their native Los Angeles with a new covers album. The group's Native Sons arrives July 30 through New West.

Native Sons — the 17th studio album from Los Lobos — finds the group honouring a swath of L.A. legends, including War ("The World Is a Ghetto"), Buffalo Springfield (a medley of "Bluebird" and "For What It's Worth"), Jackson Browne ("Jamaica Say You Will"), Barrett Strong ("Misery"), Little Feat and more.

The album's lone original is its title track. "I couldn't say there's a common thread for all these artists, but in a way that's exactly what makes L.A. great," said the band's Steve Berlin in a statement. "You've got R&B and punk rock and rock'n'roll and folk, and somehow it exists together in this one weird city that we all call home."

Alongside the announcement, the band have shared their takes on the Beach Boys' "Sail On Sailor," and "Love Special Delivery" from East L.A. outfit Thee Midniters. You can hear both covers below.

Los Lobos have also announced initial 2021 and 2022 tour dates behind Native Sons, and while none are set for Canada, you can find further details here.
