Of the planned Regina Folk Festival closers for each night, Los Lobos were unique. But that's no doubt nothing new for the U.S. Chicano rock band. While Friday was supposed to end with the Sam Roberts Band before the evening was rained out, and Saturday featured Canadian star Serena Ryder, the crowds in Victoria Park were treated to the legendary six-piece on Sunday, and welcomed them warmly.

The set moved quickly and catered nicely to the large crowd of dancers right in front of the stage. Pinning Los Lobos down to a style is a bit of a fool's errand, and this night, they played songs with folk, country, rock and cajun influences, running with anything that really moves. Often, there's something of a divide between young and old at the RFF, the former standing up front and the latter sitting in back. Los Lobos were an act that blurred that line successfully, bringing everyone to their feet by the time they came out for festival-closer "La Bamba," joined by artists from throughout the festival.
