Lil Wayne Says 'Tha Carter V' Will Be His Last Solo Album

Lil Wayne's long-awaited new solo album Tha Carter V is set to arrive this spring, and it better be worth the wait. After all, Weezy has promised that it'll be his last-ever solo album.

While rapper retirements rarely, if ever, last, Lil Wayne had some bold statements for MTV. "I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes and it's definitely the final Carter album. It's the final Carter album. It's stopping at five," he said, adding that he was dead serious. "I didn't smile when I said it."

With that in mind, he's not slacking on Tha Carter V. In fact, that's one of the reasons he's planning to stop making solo music. "It seems like it will be impossible for me to work this hard again for anything else." That's not to say he couldn't be persuaded. "25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this," he added.

Having said that, Lil Wayne will still take a break from retirement to hit the recording booth for his friend's projects or "whenever I have to pitch in for a Young Money album, a Like Father, Like Son album and something like that and maybe something out the blue."

Tha Carter V is currently slated for a May 5 release, though there's a very good chance that it'll get bumped. For now, check out his new track "Moment" below.
