In 2016, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne teamed up on the collaborative Collegrove, and according to the former, the two will soon get back to it on a sequel album in its final stages of preparation.

The Associated Press reports that 2 Chainz made the reveal in promoting a new season of Amazon Music Live, a livestreamed concert series the artist will host for the company's Prime Video service. According to Chainz, the LP will arrive before the end of 2023.

"We have two videos shot, photoshoot shot, [the] album's mixed and getting mastered, so it'll be coming sooner than later, and I'm really excited about it," he shared. "It's rapping at a high level — steel sharpens steel. And [Lil Wayne's] one of the people that I enjoy working with the most."

Expanding on their creative partnership, Chainz shared of the forthcoming album, "We worked together on every song and we over-recorded. But he kind of laid that responsibility in my lap. He's creative. He's coming up with concepts and ideas. And then, I'm someone that does the same thing on the marketing side, putting together the right set of songs that fit the particular concept I'm trying to convey."

He added: "I think we work well in that extent to where he trusts my opinion and how I'm handling everything. And he's going to bring the A-game to work every day."

The AP report also points to potential feature spots going to Usher and Benny the Butcher, both of whom have recently been spotted in social media videos with two.
