LCD Soundsystem Release "Depressing Christmas Song"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Dec 25, 2015

LCD Soundsystem may have quashed rumours earlier this year that they'd be reuniting in 2016, but James Murphy's beloved dance rock project has got back together to deliver a Christmas gift to the fans. While certainly welcome, the caveat, here, is that it's a total bummer of a tune titled "Christmas Will Break Your Heart."

Though LCD Soundsystem performed their last show back in 2011, the band returned today (December 24) to deliver a long-gestating Christmas ballad. According to a Twitter message from Murphy, he's been hanging onto a "depressing Christmas song" for 8 years. This season, he managed to get band members Tyler Pope, Pat Mahoney, Nancy Whang and Al Doyle together to tackle the track.

It's a slow and saddened piece made for anyone experiencing a blue Christmas. You'll find it streaming below, where you'll also find Murphy's message in full. "Christmas Will Break Your Heart" can be purchased here.
