Laura Marling and HAIM Discuss "Femininity in Creativity" for New Podcast Project

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 22, 2016

UK-born singer-songwriter Laura Marling has unveiled a new podcast project titled Reversal of the Muse. The first two episodes of the 10-part series arrives today (August 22), and introduce the listeners to Marling's "exploration of femininity in creativity."

In the first episode, Marling talks to sound engineer Vanessa Parr, who has worked with the likes of Elton John, B.B. King, Coldplay and John Mayer, and currently works at Village Studios in L.A. The pair discuss the difficulties of breaking into a male-dominated field, as well as the benefits and challenges of often being the only women in the studio.

For the second instalment, Marling chats with Este, Danielle and Alana Haim of HAIM. They talk about the unique experience of women in the musical profession, discussing everything from touring (including the abundance of urinal-only venues) and guitar shop culture, even bringing out producer Ariel Rechtshaid to weigh in on his process of working with artists in the studio.

You can listen to both episodes down below, and find out more about the Reversal of the Muse podcast here. Marling will also be heading out on a North American tour this fall, and you can see those dates below as well.
