Låpsley

"Operator" (DJ Koze Extended Disco Version)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 15, 2016

While this week saw the premiere of Låpsley's Bob's Burgers-themed bathroom duet with the National's Matt Berninger, the UK singer is now unveiling another collab that's decidedly less crappy. A remix of Long Way Home's "Operator (He Doesn't Call Me)" has just been delivered by DJ Koze.

While the original cut already trafficked in glitter ball-lit disco sounds, DJ Koze amps up its '70s-era cowbell, pounding rhythms and more. The track's coke-sweat symphony swells are also brought out earlier than before, while Låpsley's calls are dialled up as you'd imagine.

DJ Koze revealed in a statement of his touch-up:

When I heard Låpsley´s 'Operator' for the first time, I thought that it was unique and perfect and didn't need a remix at all, but what I could imagine was in fact a 10 minute-lasting, slowly unwrapping-itself version in a Larry Levan style, playing and dubbing around with the original stems, providing some gimmicks while imagining the moon with the spoon in the Studio 54.

The new "Operator" remix went up for sale today (July 15) both digitally and as a one-sided 12-inch via XL Recordings, but you can also give it a stream down below.
