Whether you've been bogged down by work or stuck following any of the ridiculous news stories as of late, it's nice to take a break from everything and let loose at a concert. So, in our ongoing quest to help you find the biggest and best shows coming your way, we've done what we do every week: Scour our concert listings to find the concerts you want to see that are hitting the Great White North.
 
In this week's edition of Can't Miss Concerts from July 20 to 26, we've picked a wide range of shows to please almost any music fan, from folk artists, to country bands, to superstar rappers and a ton more.

Change of Heart
 
Canadian alt-rock legends Change of Heart broke up two decades ago, but they're back this week to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their landmark album, Smile, with a vinyl reissue and a remarkable return to the stage. Since Exclaim! is celebrating our own 25th anniversary, we've teamed up to with the band to present this special show that will feature the original lineup from the Smile sessions.

Gateway Festival
 
Now entering its 13th year, Gateway Festival is one of Saskatchewan's best festivals to check out up and coming local artists, as well as some bigger names to top the bill. This year, they've got Tom Cochrane and alt-rock mainstays 54-40 headlining, plus sets from alternative country rockers the Sadies and a whole lot more. Head to the fest and see who else is playing across the festival's three days.

Interstellar Rodeo Edmonton
 
If indie rock, folk and country bands are your jam, Interstellar Rodeo is the festival for you. Toronto-based label Six Shooter Records have been putting on this three-day extravaganza for the past six years, and this year's edition features performances from the likes of Broken Social Scene, Serena Ryder, Aloe Blacc, Suzanne Vega and a ton more that you're not going to want to miss out on.

Jamila Woods

You may recognize Chicago soul singer Jamila Woods from her collaborations with Chance the Rapper or Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, but her debut album, HEAVN, was a gorgeous, consistent and detailed masterpiece that made our Top 15 Soul and R&B Albums of 2016 list. If you wanted to see Woods live, you can catch her perform in either Toronto or Montreal this week.

Kendrick Lamar
 
Famed rapper Kendrick Lamar has had a strong year so far, releasing the tremendously powerful DAMN. — which led our Top Albums of 2017 So Far list — and recording some high-profile collaborations with the likes of Future and Mike WiLL Made-It. If you've been eagerly waiting to see Lamar live, now's your chance, as he'll be making a stop in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre this week.

River & Sky Festival
 
River & Sky Festival has been providing Northern Ontario with four days of fantastic live acts for the past eight years, and their latest edition has some big names topping the bill. This year they've landed Toronto punks PUP, Halifax indie rockers Wintersleep, bluesy folk act Timber Timbre, indie-pop experimenters Weaves and a bunch of up and coming musicians from across Canada and beyond.

Taste of Edmonton
 
If you're a food enthusiast who enjoys live music soundtracking their meals, then Taste of Edmonton is the place you're going to want to be this week. This year's edition will feature performances from Bif Naked, Royal Canoe, I Mother Earth and more.

Waxahatchee
 
Katie Crutchfield's Waxahatchee project went through some big changes this year, adding a full band just in time to release this month's spectacular Out in the Storm. Western Canadian fans are in luck this week, as Waxahatchee will be performing in Vancouver before heading back across the border to continue their trek.
