Today, Journey have shared a new, nostalgic-leaning single titled "The Way We Used to Be" — marking the band's first new music in a decade.

Likewise, "The Way We Used to Be" is Journey's first recording with two new members: drummer Michael Walden — who's produced hits for the likes of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey — and keyboardist Jason Derlatka, a TV composer.

It's also the first Journey song since 1986 to feature Randy Jackson (yes, from American Idol), who apparently rejoined the band in 2020. As previously reported, they reunited for a virtual performance of "Don't Stop Believin' for UNICEF's COVID-19 relief stream benefit last year.

Despite its tight three-minutes-and-33-seconds, "The Way We Used to Be" impressively manages to cram a characteristic guitar solo in for a good 20 seconds or so.

The track comes complete with an animated video depicting a relationship strained beneath the pandemic's challenges. Of course, the couple find renewal at a post-pandemic Journey show.
