Saskatchewan's Jordan Welbourne is ready to share his music far and wide with a new EP titled Reach Out. But before his debut release officially arrives next week, Exclaim! is giving you a chance to stream the whole thing a week early.
The six-song set serves as an introduction to Welbourne's gritty blues-infused brand of rock'n'roll. From the ringing guitars of the opening title track to the twangy melodies of "Set Me Free," Welbourne delivers an aggressive, high-energy take on prairie blues-rock. There's a break for the mellow melancholy of borderline blues ballad "Terrain," but the musician picks things right back up again to close out the record with the help of Brad Taylor on penultimate jam "Stank Blues" before closing out with the hard-hitting single "Rattlesnake Jake."
Welbourne's background as a hard-working session rock musician and classically trained vocalist shines through on his debut solo effort, though his own efforts are bolstered by those of bassist Jesse Dawson and drummer Nathan Abramyk.
Reach Out is due out on April 29, and will be marked with an album release show at Village Guitars in Saskatoon that same day. For now, though, get an advanced listen to the full EP in the player below.
