The February 26 release date of Johnny Marr's solo debut, The Messenger, is still more than a month away, but the former Smiths guitarist has given us another preview of his debut solo disc with a music video for "Upstarts."
The upbeat track features overdriven, pysch-pop-tinged guitar licks and a tuneful vocal melody that wouldn't sound out of place coming from Sloan or Sam Roberts. The video is similarly back-to-basics, as Marr performs in an airplane hanger-sized room with his backing band.
The Messenger will drop through Sire/ADA.
