John Cale Brings Out Animal Collective, Libertines Members for 'Velvet Underground & Nico' Performance in Paris

John Cale's career has been marked with many memorable, often experimental highlights, but perhaps none as impactful as the release of 1967's The Velvet Undergound & Nico. Nearly 50 years after its release, Cale has confirmed he'll be performing the group's debut LP alongside members of Animal Collective, the Libertines and more for a special concert in Paris.

Cale revealed the one-off event earlier this year, but a tweet delivered today (March 3) now adds that the April 3 staging of the album at Philharmonie de Paris will feature a handful of special guests. This includes Animal Collective, with whom Cale recently collaborated with for their Painting With album.

Also popping up throughout the night will be Pete Doherty and Carl Barat of the Libertines, the great and gravelly-voiced Mark Lanegan, Etienne Daho, Lou Doillon, and Lemon Jelly's Nick Franglen.

If the thought of this has you contemplating a trip to France, think again. The concert is already sold out. All the same, you can find out more details about the event over here.
