The five new songs hear the indie songstress navigating a return to her native city of Los Angeles after a stint in New York. While 2013's debut LP Double Bind reflected her time living in Brooklyn, the new batch of tunes hears her re-embracing the "thoughtful narratives" and "sunny arrangements" evocative of life on the West Coast.
Those get brought to life in a refreshing piano-pop style, starting with "Stop You" and keeping up the heartfelt, keys-centric songwriting through the sunshine-y "Tired of Me," the sparser, slightly more melancholic "Good Ship" and on to the raw, acoustically strummed closer "Into the Throes."
